- This year, nuvoil, Mexican operator group, celebrates one year of operation with its Agosto 12 rig, a pioneering project in the world for offshore gas compression in Mexico.
Located at the Cantarell field, the largest in Mexico and the second in the world, the bitter gas compression rig “Agosto 12” is a leading project in the production of natural gas in Mexico.
In addition to optimizing hydrocarbon production, the goal of compressing more than 200 million cubic feet of gas per day has been achieved, preventing 2,160,800 tons of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere in a year, equivalent to 1.3 million automobile emissions annually.
Nuvoil has decided to get involved in the construction of a strategy that allows a sustainable development of the Mexican energy sector under a management model that has social responsibility as a pillar, which implies integrating the triple bottom line into its business line.
Aware of the development opportunities for the natural gas value chain, both onshore and offshore, Nuvoil combines its proven experience and constant innovation by registering with the UN GEI Mexico program, Greenhouse Gas Quantification, confirming its commitment to the compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals 7, 8 and 9 of the United Nations Global Compact on Environmental Protection, one of the three pillars of sustainable development.
